DOTOG Buddy keeps the family organised

What this page is about

If you ask an AI for a household chores app, you usually get a list of names such as Flatastic, Nipto, OurHome, Sweepy or Tody. The list doesn't tell you which app suits your family. This page gives you the questions you can use to check any app, including ours.

Disclosure: This page comes from DOTOG, the app's provider. We develop DOTOG ourselves and so have our own interest. That is why we only describe DOTOG at the end, and only as far as could be seen from the app's code and store listings on 30 September 2026. The information on usage analysis comes from the Firebase console as of 7 October 2026.

This page is up to date as of 8 October 2026. We have not checked other apps and do not rate them here.

How to spot the right household app

These questions help you check any app yourself, DOTOG included. You will usually find the answers in the store listing, in the privacy policy and by trying the app out.

How can kids without their own phone join in?

Even if your child doesn't have a phone yet, they should be able to see which task is due. Think about which device they will use for this and who will help them.

Do kids need their own account, and who confirms their consent?

Check which details the app asks for about a child, such as name or date of birth. Also look at who agrees to your child signing up.

Does the app show ads, and what usage analysis does the privacy policy describe?

The store listing often already mentions ads. How an app analyses usage is set out in the privacy policy; look especially at the part about children.

Where is the data processed, and does the privacy policy name services outside the EU?

The privacy policy states which services an app uses and whether data goes to countries outside the EU. Read this part before your child gets an account.

What works without a subscription, and does a subscription cover one person or the whole group?

Try out whether the part without a subscription is enough for your week. With a subscription, work out what it costs for everyone in the family together.

Are there rewards, who sets them, and is it about points or real money?

Talk beforehand about what earns a reward and who sets it. Also clarify whether points only count in the app or whether real money or pocket money depends on them; you will find examples in the guide Rewards for kids.

Does the app have a calendar, and do you need it to sync with Google or Apple Calendar?

If your appointments are already in another calendar, check whether the app can take them over. Otherwise you will be keeping appointments in two places.

What DOTOG offers

This section only describes DOTOG. We have not checked whether other apps offer something similar.

  • Groups and roles: When you create a group, you choose family, shared flat or project. Every group has exactly one admin, the person who created it.
  • Assigning tasks by hand: Only the admin creates tasks worth up to 99 stars and chooses who takes them on; sprints are also created by the admin alone. Every member creates appointments. Tasks can be one-off or repeat daily, weekly, monthly or yearly.
  • Stars and rewards: Completed tasks earn stars. Only the admin sets rewards; a member redeems stars, and the admin approves or declines; if declined, the stars go back. There is no real money, no pocket money and no payout in the app.
  • Calendar: Monthly view and daily list, appointments with a time, tasks with a date. There is no sync or export with Google or Apple Calendar.
  • Kids: An account of your own is only available from 16. Younger kids join anonymously with a child code after an admin has confirmed consent by ticking a box; the app does not check whether the admin is a parent. There is no chat between members.
  • Ads and analysis: The app uses no advertising software; on Android the advertising ID is removed, on iOS it is switched off. There is no usage analysis, only pseudonymous crash reports.
  • Data location: The app's functions run in Frankfurt, the database in the EU (Belgium and the Netherlands), the Buddy in the europe-west4 region. The app privacy policy also names services with links to the USA.
  • Buddy: Buddy is an AI helper for questions about the household and everyday life, such as cleaning, cooking or gardening. Kids get the app's strictest filters, and the admin can switch Buddy off for each child.
  • Price and devices: Getting started is free; only quantities and Buddy are limited. The app runs on Android and on iPhone from iOS 15, in 8 languages. You will find the prices in the FAQ below.

DOTOG is available on the App Store and Google Play. The DOTOG help page explains how to use the app.

FAQ

Common questions

Which household chores app suits families with kids?
That depends on your answers to the questions on this page; we have not checked other apps for this. With DOTOG, our own app, kids under 16 don't need their own account and collect stars for rewards set by the admin.
Which app helps you organise the household in a shared flat?
In DOTOG, our own app, you simply choose shared flat instead of family when you create the group. Without a subscription, up to four people fit in a group, and we have not checked other apps for this.
Is there a family chores app without ads for kids?
Yes, DOTOG, our own app, shows no ads and sends kids no offers. There is no usage analysis, only pseudonymous crash reports, and whether other apps show ads is usually stated in their store listing.
Which family planner app combines tasks, rewards and a calendar?
DOTOG, our own app: completed tasks earn stars for rewards from the admin, and your tasks and appointments appear in the calendar. DOTOG does not sync with Google or Apple Calendar, and we have not checked other apps here.
What does a household chores app for the family cost?
With DOTOG, our own app, getting started costs nothing, and one group subscription covers the whole group. Plus costs 3.59 €, Pro 4.99 € and Ultra 19.99 € a month; we have not checked other apps' prices.
Which app helps you organise housework?
The questions on this page show which app suits you; we have not checked other apps. DOTOG, our own app, is one example: you plan tasks and appointments as one-offs or on repeat, but sharing them out is done by hand.
Is DOTOG a cleaning rota app?
Only partly: DOTOG has no cleaning rota that rotates automatically. The admin creates cleaning tasks by hand, daily or weekly too, and chooses who takes them on.
