We verify the request

We reply by email within 24 hours on working days and make sure the request really comes from you before we delete anything.

We delete

You can reverse the deletion for 14 days. After that, the account data is deleted permanently; technical backups expire by day 30.

Final confirmation

At the end you get an email confirming everything is deleted. Then your account is gone.

What gets deleted?

Deleting your account removes your profile, buddy, tasks, stars and rewards, and every message from BuddyChat. For fourteen days, you can reverse the deletion via the confirmation email link; even if you do, group membership, stars and your streak will not come back. After that, nobody can recover the data, including us; technical backups expire by day 30. Anything another group member completed or redeemed remains anonymised in the group statistics, with no link to you. The section below explains what we must retain for legal reasons; this concerns invoices, not your content. The process takes up to thirty days: request, verification, deletion and confirmation by email. To return later, you will need a new invite code. Cancel an active subscription separately in the App Store or Google Play; otherwise, billing continues. This data is deleted completely:

What we must keep, and why

Some data we are not allowed to delete immediately. Under German tax and commercial law § 147 AO, § 257 HGB, we must keep invoice and payment records for up to 10 years. This data is blocked, meaning: no longer actively used, only held for a possible audit by the authorities, and deleted automatically afterwards. We also keep a minimal record that deletion took place, and when, as proof of GDPR-compliant processing.

We use your email only to process your deletion request and send you the confirmation. No advertising, no sharing. Processing on EU servers. Where individual service providers process data in the USA, the EU Standard Contractual Clauses apply. To prevent spam, we briefly store a hashed (de-identified) form of your IP address, for a maximum of 1 hour. This form is intended for adults. If you are a minor, please ask a parent or legal guardian to submit the request.
